Peoples Church

The Peoples Church is a multi-denominational congregation with recognition as a church in the following four denominations simultaneously: The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), The United Methodist Church, The United Church of Christ, and the American Baptist Church. The Peoples Church selects and calls clergy and staff with this ecumenical arrangement in mind by insisting on theological and denominational diversity. Each member of the congregation is considered a full member of each of the four denominations. The Peoples Church is a fully multi-denominational, multi-generational congregation located just off the campus of Michigan State University, in close proximately to the Michigan State Capitol, and in the heart of the growing Lansing region. The Peoples Church is a welcoming, inclusive, service-oriented church focused on living out the good news of Jesus Christ through an ecumenical expression of hope.

At The Peoples Church, we believe in serving the community is an integral part of what we are about. As part of that dedication, we’ve created a number of ways to enrich the lives of those in our community and beyond, through education, worship, fellowship and outreach. The Community Engagement Ministry committee at The Peoples Church donates money and encourages the congregation to respond to issues of Christian concern locally, nationally and internationally. In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, the church has partnered with and supported local food banks, homeless ministries and housing coalitions. The Peoples Church has been a longtime partner with Edgewood Village Non-Profit Housing Corporation. Members tutor residents of all ages, mentor high school students on the path to college, provide donations, help with gardening and sewing projects, and offer transportation to events. In Partnership with our East Lansing neighbors at All Saints Episcopal Church, The Peoples Church supports Christian Services of Greater Lansing to provide “personal needs” supplies for local families. Nationally Accredited by NAEYC for over 25 years, Peoples Church Preschool embraces a nature-based philosophy and strives to connect children with the natural world whenever possible. This influences our curriculum and daily schedules, including the materials and activities available in both the indoor and outdoor classrooms. In 2016, Peoples Church Preschool's Outdoor Classroom received national recognition as a Certified Nature Explore Classroom. As an urban Nature Preschool, our preschool classes utilizes the three-acre Valley Court Park adjacent to the preschool, MSU’s campus, and multiple nature trails and woodlots. We also partner with multiple nature centers located in our community.
