Who We Are
The Equine Center for Learning (ECL) was founded in 1979 by John Breaugh, former principal of the Marvin E. Beekman Center, to meet the need for specialized horseback riding therapy for Beekman Center students and community members with disabilities. ECL provides people of all abilities the opportunity to partner with horses through equine-assisted services to inspire the spirit, heal the body, and nourish the soul in a safe, caring, four-season environment.
What We Do
The Equine Center for Learning (ECL) focuses on equine-assisted services including therapeutic riding lessons and equine-assisted learning.
Being a part of the Lansing School District ECL focuses on partnering with the schools to provide field trips for students. In addition, we host an after-school program for high school students focused on social-emotional learning (SEL) competencies. We also provide therapeutic riding lessons to anyone in the surrounding areas to work on strength, balance and emotional regulation.
