Volunteers are invited to help plant trees on the Union Missionary Baptist church grounds at 500 South Martin Luther King Blvd. on Saturday, April 11th under the leadership of City of Lansing Forestry Director, Irene Cahill and Luci Solis, Lansing's Community Relations and Faith Based Initiatives Director. Michigan Interfaith Power and Light's Capital Area Chapter, supported by its member houses of worship, and other community partners are participating. Volunteers can email Marc Lyon at mblyon1@gmail.com if you have any questions. Participants are encouraged to wear closed toe shoes which are water and mud-proof. If possible, please bring your own shovels, hats, snacks and water (extra shovels, rakes,etc. will be available on site). Light snacks and water will be available as needed. This is a rain or shine event. Volunteers will be notified at least one hour in advance via email should weather conditions prevent the event from moving forward. Help us make this a great Earth Day month experience for our community.
