The Eastside Community Action Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit service organization dedicated to providing basic human services to the vulnerable, at-risk community, as well as offering innovative programs, services and initiatives that aim to remove institutional barriers to self-sufficiency and improve the quality of life for Lansing residents of all ages.
As a Community Clothing Closet Assistant, you will be an integral part of our efforts to provide clothing assistance and support to individuals and families in need within our community. Your role will involve assisting clients, organizing clothing items, maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of the clothing closet, and contributing to a welcoming and respectful atmosphere for those seeking assistance. Your empathy, attention to detail, and dedication to community service will be essential in ensuring that individuals can access essential clothing items with dignity and respect.
Position Responsibilities
- Welcome and engage with clients in a friendly and non-judgmental manner, offering guidance and assistance as they navigate the clothing closet.
- Collaborate with fellow team members to sort, organize, and display donated clothing items in an orderly and accessible manner.
- Help clients select appropriate clothing items based on their needs, preferences, and sizes.
- Regularly assess and manage the inventory, ensuring that items are clean, in good condition, and available for clients.
- Contribute to the upkeep and cleanliness of the clothing closet, ensuring that the space is safe and inviting.
- Assist with special events, seasonal clothing drives, and initiatives to expand the reach of the clothing closet program.
- Provide compassionate and respectful customer service, addressing inquiries and concerns with empathy.
